Church Service in Gabon

Here we all are in front of the Rougier Church

Today most of us went to the Rougier Church Service, while Tim Brokopp, Serge, Aafje, Tyler and Matt went to a sattelite church. Our service started at 9 AM and went till Noon. Yeah two services in one. For the first hour we had maily singing and praying going on. Now when they pray , they all pray at one time out loud. Wow, now I have a feel for how God hears us. It's quite noisy but cool. The singing was winderful and they did stuf in both French and English for us. Then we had an hour of preaching from Pastor Mike as they called him. Then they did some spiritual dancing for us and after two dances they started pulling us up on the platform to dance with them. It is rather unique dancing in church but cool again I must say. Then they did a few more songs and the offering where we sing the ... Somba ... song and walked around greeting and grabbing each others shoulders for a hug I guess I would describe it as. We loved it. Then the service ended and they had us go out first, the white people that is, and they gave us really African food, yum! Ok some of it was rather hard to swallow without gagging but we had to eat it otherwise it was insulting. Your kids did a great job of getting stuff down. They are off playing soccer now with the Rougier kids. As for how the outreach went in bringing people into the church this morningwell, last week they had 110 total and this week was 250. 25 were us but the children went from 60 to 110 and the teens from 30 to 65, so I would say it worked out pretty well. All the kids just want us to take their pictures constantly. We would get mobbed by them but we are loving loving them.

Tomorrow is the Hope House doing work for the orphanage. Don't know what all it will entail but it will be a great experiece. Can't believe we only have 4 work days left here. It is going by way too fast.

Stacey, too cool! I went to a Thai Church today here in Chiang Mai with my friend Praise (do you remember when he visited a few years ago?) and his family. It was a great experience! I don't know what I'm going to do when the church service is entirely in English next Sunday! Enjoy your time at the orphanage, You will be in my prayers!

Westgate Chapel Gabon Team:

I have been reading your daily blogs here in Toledo with great interest. It sounds and looks like you guys are having a great time. I know that you are physically working very hard along with getting to know the Gabon youths and experiencing the Gabon culture. I was privilidged to visit Gabon this past May and spent several days in Libreville along with some auditing that was performed at the Bongolo Hospital. The Bongolo Hospital is were Dr. Dave and Becki Thompson have given 31 years of their lives to minister both physically and spiritually to these wonderful people. The Bongolo Hospital is about 250 miles from Libreville in southeast Gabon.

I am praying for all of the Gabon Team that God will continue to watch over you and make your missions trip a great success as you continue to share with these beautiful people.

God Bless

It's great to hear things went so very well for the "outreach" yesterday, and another packed day today too! You have already done lots!
We will be praying for you ( as we do daily) that your visit to Hope House will be good for all, and a help for these kids and your visit Tuesday will go smoothly.
(Kevin- you are missing out here at home, you COULD be scraping & priming the windows! )
Hope your ear is getting better quickly.

I'm so glad that Don (Benoit) announced at church today your blog site. What awesome photos and I am so proud of all of you there. What a tremendous opportunity to be in Africa, helping the people, sharing God's love, and spreading the gospel. I feel so blessed to be apart of a ministry that allows our kids a chance and a choice to participate in such a grand ministry.
Kudos to all of you there. You are in my prayers.

Hey Gang...
Everything that is going on there is amazing! I almost cried when you said there ended up to be over 200 students at the outreach. Abby, I am proud of you for sharing your testimony. I hope that went well. Kari and Abby, I am proud of you! I am so glad that you both decided to take this huge step of faith!
Only a few more days left but lots of seeds has already been done! It will be exciting to see what happens and ultimately who will be in heaven when we get there!! Work hard this week!

Ashley Bug: It was wonderful to read of all things that God has been doing thru all of you in Gabon. We just got back from the archery shoot in Pa. It was fun but rainy. I can't wait to hear all of the stories when you get home. We love you, we miss you, and we are so proud of you. Thanks for remembering your brother's birthday. Keep listening to where God leads you. Love, Mom, Dad and Ben

Stacy: Thank you so much for letting us share daily in our kid's experiences, even if it is in cyberspace. I check the site everyday.

Hi Kara,
I love you and miss you! I am praying for you too, that you are feeling well, getting to experience a lot of new and exciting things, and that you are just thoroughly enjoying yourself. You need to remember to have enough fun and excitement for the two of us while you are there - I have always wanted to go.
David will be coming to stay with me on Wednesday, and then we are leaving to head home on Thursday evening. I cannot wait to get home for a weekend and then move into our own place. It is almost like we haven't really been married, because we haven't been able to be together. So that will be wonderful, to finally have our own place. It will be fun to have you, Jena, and Audra come visit too.
Well, I will end this book for now, but I will talk to you soon. It will be fun at our little "welcome home Kara"/"happy birthday/going away Leah" party this next weekend.
Much love,
Your sister, Leah

Great picture of your entire group. It is good to see you all cleaned up well after so much hard labor. It has been great to read about your adventure and hopefully you all have enjoyed the comments from friends and family. The world is getting so much smaller with the internet available everywhere. Continued prayers that your mission will be successful and you will all remain safe and well.

Dorothy asked Wilber if he was cold one morning. Wilber did not answer. Alicia pops up and says "Well I am 19 and I am not cold cause I have fresh Blood." We all laughed - Poor Alicia had no idea what she said. Wilber thought it was so fuuny. We all miss you in the mornings. See you soon.

Hi Aafje,and everyone,

I loved seeing the whole team in front of the church and seeing the kids that you get to spend time with. I pray that your testimony was Gods words speaking through you and that it was translated the way you wanted to share it.
We miss you, but we are excited when we see the neat things you are doing. I loved seeing all of you guys riding in the back of the pickup truck, it made me think of my days on the farm in Idaho! :) Are you guys swimming everyday to make up for showers? Eric,

I have to say I miss you very much. I look forward to hearing how everything is going. Reading the stories and what everyone from here has posted is like reading one of your good stories. You all have me on my seat to see what happens next. Let me say that I am so proud of you. I know that you are were you are meant to be. I pray that all of you will stay safe. Know that you are loved and missed.

On a side note, yesterday was fun here. We had our 4 birthday celebration at your house. I brought the water balloons- yes I did! Liam and Adam made sure your Dad got in on the fun. Let's just say that everyone was pretty wet. Brooke missed you and Aafje. The boys were picking on her and she had no one on her team but little Ashley. Tell Aafje that I miss her as well and can't wait to see you both soon.
Love you, Aunt Susan
